Trademark policy
Use of the WATCH D.O.G.S.® mark.
Our logo, mascot, and name are protected. Here is exactly what chapters, schools, and partners are allowed to do, and what requires approval from the National Office before production.
Apparel
We are the only authorized producer of apparel.
Every WATCH D.O.G.S.® branded t-shirt, hat, hoodie, polo, or other piece of apparel must come from the official WATCH D.O.G.S. DOGStore. We do not license third-party vendors, print shops, or individual chapters to manufacture apparel carrying our mark.
This protects volunteers (real Watch DOGS dads always show up in the official uniform), protects the program (every shirt is tied back to a registered program), and keeps quality consistent across the network.

Active chapters may use our logos digitally.
We provide official logo files to active chapters in good standing. You may use them in:
- Your school's website pages about your program
- Newsletters and emails to families
- Social media posts about your program's activities
- Internal flyers, sign-up sheets, and presentations shared digitally

Any other use requires approval
Other physical uses are reviewed case by case.
Any physical use of the WATCH D.O.G.S.® mark outside of official apparel from the DOGStore requires express written consent from the National Office. We review requests case by case. Examples that have been approved in the past:
Custom banner for a launch event
A Pizza Night kickoff banner with the program's school name and the WATCH D.O.G.S.® mark, used at the event and then retired.
Customized gift for ten years of service
A keepsake plaque or engraved gift recognizing a Top Dog Coordinator or volunteer for a milestone anniversary with the program.
Table cloth for the sign-up table
A reusable table cloth used at recruitment events, school open houses, and back-to-school nights.
How to request approval
Email HQ before you produce anything.
Tell us the school name, the intended use, the production quantity, the event date if applicable, and the vendor. A mockup or image is hugely helpful. We will reply within five business days with approval, edits, or a reason we cannot approve.
What is prohibited
Anything else is strictly prohibited.
Any other use of the WATCH D.O.G.S.® name, mascot, or logo is strictly prohibited without prior written consent from the National Office. That includes, but is not limited to:
- Producing or reselling apparel through a third party
- Printing the mark on merchandise for fundraising
- Sublicensing the logo to a sponsor or partner organization
- Modifying the mark, mascot, or wordmark in any way
- Using the mark in a way that suggests endorsement of a product, candidate, or unrelated cause
Dads of Great Students LLC owns the registered trademark and reserves all rights not expressly granted above.
